Why I Created Structured Change
For more than 30 years, I have worked across engineering, maintenance, reliability, business improvement, executive leadership and international Asset Management standards.
Throughout that journey, I noticed something that kept repeating itself.
Organisations weren’t failing because they lacked technology.
They weren’t failing because they lacked Asset Management frameworks.
And they certainly weren’t failing because they lacked intelligent people.
They were failing because they struggled to change.
New Enterprise Asset Management systems were implemented but never fully adopted. ISO 55001 Management Systems were developed but never became part of everyday decision-making. Millions of dollars were invested in software, consultants, and transformation programs, only for organisations to continue working as they always had.
After seeing this pattern repeated across industries, countries and sectors, I realised something.
Asset Management isn’t an engineering problem. It’s an organisational change problem.
That realisation led me to establish Structured Change.
Structured Change exists to bridge the gap between technical excellence and organisational adoption, helping organisations embed Asset Management into leadership, culture, governance and everyday operational practice.
Technology enables change.
People deliver it.
International Leadership
Today I have the privilege of contributing to the future direction of Asset Management internationally.
My leadership has included:
- Convenor of the international committee responsible for the development of ISO 55001
- Technical Director of the World Partners in Asset Management (WPiAM)
- International representative contributing to the development of global Asset Management competency and certification frameworks
- Contributor to international standards supporting organisational capability and Asset Management maturity
- Advisor to government, infrastructure, utilities, defence, transport and private sector organisations across Australia and internationally
These roles provide a unique perspective on where the profession is heading while ensuring my work remains grounded in practical implementation.
My Journey
Unlike many consultants, my career did not begin in a boardroom.
It began on the workshop floor as a Maintenance Fitter and Machinist, learning first-hand how assets behave, how maintenance decisions affect reliability, and why practical experience matters.
From there, I progressed through reliability engineering, maintenance management, computer programming, business improvement and executive leadership before specialising in Asset Management and Organisational Change Management.
Having worked from the tools to the boardroom has provided me with a perspective that few consultants possess. I understand both the strategic expectations of executives and the practical realities faced by frontline teams responsible for delivering asset performance every day.
This practical foundation continues to shape every engagement undertaken through Structured Change.

My Philosophy
After more than 30 years in the profession, one belief has remained constant.
Asset Management doesn’t create value…People do!
- Technology supports decisions.
- Standards provide consistency.
- Frameworks provide structure.
But organisations only realise value when their people understand, adopt and continually improve the way they work.
Leadership | Alignment | Value | Integrity | Transparency | Trust
A Final Thought
I often say that I didn’t create Structured Change because the world needed another consulting company.
I created it because organisations deserved something different.
A consultancy built by someone who has worked on the tools, led businesses, shaped international standards and understands that sustainable transformation happens when strategy, leadership, culture and operational practice all move together.
That’s the purpose behind Structured Change.
Helping organisations create lasting capability, not just successful projects.
