Structured Change provides Asset Management Consulting built on real experience, industry understanding and being certified in Asset Management. We care about our customers, we are strategic in or assessments but operational in our considerations.  In maximizing return on investment on all fronts we strive to bring people into every assignment. We understand people, culture and Asset Management. (see Asset Management Cultural Survey)

Asset Management Maturity AssessmentsStructured Change conducts organizational assessments using ISO55001, the Asset Management Council Capability Delivery Model and an Asset Management Cultural survey based upon ISO55000. Assessments are designed in order to highlight the tangible and intangible, this, in turn, informs an organization on where the levers for change exist. An assessment based solely on a management system alone (eg ISO55001) will lose out on the core fundamentals of ISO55000 which forms the glue that brings Asset Management to life.

Maturity assessments are not a checklist with one assessment fitting all. Using the standard as a guideline we will assess the maturity and integration of the standard elements which is a management system view. The standard sections (for all recent ISO Management System Standards) are:

  • ISO55001:2014 – Section 4 – Context of the Organisation
  • ISO55001:2014 – Section 5 – Leadership
  • ISO55001:2014 – Section 6 – Planning
  • ISO55001:2014 – Section 7 – Support
  • ISO55001:2014 – Section 8 – Operations
  • ISO55001:2014 – Section 9 – Performance Evaluation
  • ISO55001:2014 – Section 10 – Improvement

By assessing these elements holistically we are able to highlight strengths and areas for improvement. At all times Structured Change is looking for levers that are often overlooked within an organization. A fresh set of eyes will often identify low hanging fruit and opportunities for innovation.

By taking the Asset Management Capability Delivery model we able to assess the overlay of business processes that should sit in parallel with the Asset Management System. This double context approach to assessing an organization considers top down and bottom up. The Capability Delivery Model (Courtesy of the Asset Management Council of Australia) provides an industry neutral, agnostic model that illustrates how demand is converted to value for stakeholders using the following capability areas:

  • Demand Management (Market wants supply of something)
  • Systems Engineering (Is it an Asset or Non-Asset Solution, or both?)
  • Configuration Management (What is its configuration? How will we support it?)
  • Acquisition (Do we Build or Buy?)
  • Operations and Maintenance (How will it be Operated and Maintained?)
  • Continuous Improvement (It’s in place, let’s make it better!)

By considering both dimensions during an assessment an organization has an understanding of what needs to be done to achieve ISO55001 certification as well as a sound business case to support the changes ahead.

Asset Management Journey Maps – Understanding how to move forward with Asset Management is equally important as understanding why an organization chooses to adopt Asset Management in the first place. A second question is often “Where should we start?”

There are three important questions to understand before an organization commences their journey.

  1. What is the attitude to Asset Management?
  2. What is the appetite for Asset Management?
  3. What is the ability to adopt Asset Management?

We can assist organizations to translate the answers to these questions in the form of an Asset Management Journey Map. Understanding how to integrate an existing business with minimal disruption but with the maximum value is both art and science. We listen to our customers and invite challenge to the answers to these questions. Taking too large a  step in the early phase of a journey can lead to confusion, disengagement and set a journey backward. Selecting visible, tangible, achievable and mutually beneficial milestones in the early phases of a journey underpin future success. Structured Change has experience in teasing out real (sometimes unspoken) requirements and constructing an executable Asset Management Journey Map.

Structured Change assists organizational get onto their journey then step back. We pride ourselves in handing over the keys. Change must come from within if it is to sustain!

Management System and Business System Integration – In the new world of management systems there is a new focus on integration. For years organizations supporting multiple management systems has come at a cost financially but also biased toward compliance as opposed to the value that can be gained from management systems. Determining the most effective way to construct workflows that balance People, Process, Behaviours, Information, and Technology. (See Integrated Management Systems) is a key understanding for organizations. We assist organizations in audit preparation and Integrated Management System design.

Many companies we encounter are supporting multiple management systems in Quality, Safety & Environmental. With ISO5500x now available and the new ISO structured becoming the norm, it is the optimal time to consider the move an Integrated Management System.

Strategic Asset Management – Using Asset Management principles to design and implement Asset Management Journey Maps Structured Change sets out to create “organizational line of site”. Organisational Strategy, Strategic Asset Management through to Tactical Asset Management and Operations.

Structured Change has experience in designing and implementing Strategic Asset Management Plans (S.A.M.P.) and Asset Management Plans (A.M.P.). Our differential is that we consider and design the people and culture component into each of these plans. ISO55001 will only achieve maximum value when the fundamentals of Asset Management (ISO55000) are truly understood, considered and integrated.

Sales and Tender support – Assisting organizations to understand and exploit existing capability (and capacity) and articulate that capability in sales offerings. (See Course Here). It is one thing to chase the opportunity but many organizations fail to consider, appreciate and articulate their existing strengths in Asset Management. We assist organizations in highlighting their value streams in the context of Asset Management.

Structured Change has had success in providing companies the confidence to respond to tenders above the requirements of what is being offered. ISO5500x is the new requirement for many tenders in the market. Rather than just answering a subset of requirements why not articulate the value your organization can provide by demonstrating both ISO55000 and ISO55001.
